2023 Annual Event and Raffle Taking Place June 2nd at Southwestern Michigan College

Cass County CASA announces its 2023 Annual Dinner and Silent Auction event to be held Friday, June 2nd, 6:00 pm at Southwestern Michigan College, Mathew’s Conference Center East.  This year’s event features a pasta dinner catered by Wood Fire Trattoria paired with Michigan wines and brews. Silent auction items include fun-filled experiences such as golf outings, baseball tickets, family games, and sounding the fire truck siren during a personal tour of the station or hosting the fire truck at a nearby home. Merchandise baskets include Pokagon-made items, Style Dots jewelry, bottles of wine, fish tackle and more. A selection of gift cards from local merchants and restaurants will be sold at face value. The grand prize Raffle drawing for a Weber Summit S-470 Grill will highlight the evening, followed by CASA's annual Call to the Heart auction.  Tickets to the dinner event are $75/person and may be purchased by selecting the (dropdown) designated campaign, CASA Annual Event (https://casscocasa.org/donate/#_givealways).  Board members are selling Raffle tickets ($25 each) leading up to the event, and the prize winner does not need to be present to win. Raffle tickets are also available for online purchase by selecting the (dropdown) designated campaign, Annual Event Raffle Tickets.

Going into its 26th year, the advocacy work remains as important as ever. Cass County CASA trains and supports Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) to be the voice for abused and neglected children in child protective proceedings. Our guiding principle posits that children grow and develop best with their family of origin, but only if a safe home environment can be achieved. Highly trained CASA advocates step up to provide judges with the information they need to act in the best interest of the child, and every detail helps judges to make the right placement decision. In addition, having a stable relationship with a supportive adult like a CASA advocate can help children do well, even when they have faced significant hardships. Children in foster care who have a CASA advocate are more likely to succeed in school, more likely to find a safe, permanent home, and half as likely to re-enter the foster care system.
