Impact...how each volunteer makes a difference
Every year more than a half million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes. In the few minutes it takes you to read this website, a report of child abuse or neglect has been made. At the close of today, an average of four children will have died due to maltreatment. In 2006, Michigan alone saw 18,655 cases of abuse and neglect; 16,599 children of which were placed in out-of-home care.
Southwestern lower Michigan is not immune to this crisis. Last year Cass County received over ??? child abuse and neglect complaints. Funding was available to serve just ??? of the ??? children in need of CASA services.
Cass County CASA currently has ?? volunteers advocating for ?? children and six volunteers in training.
